Two Basketball Deny the Flash Drill
Contributed by Coach Ken Sartini
Offensive player O1 on left side 10-12 feet out of the lane….. (facing the basket)
Defender X1 in the paint in help position.
Player or coach on the wing opposite (C).
Post player O2 just above the block on the wing side with the ball.
O1 flashes to the ball, X1 steps up, meets him with a forearm and denies or deflects that pass, we always made the pass thus forcing him to defend and deflect the pass from (C).
(C) has 2 basketballs (or you can use another player) After X1 deflects the ball he has to go and deny the pass with the second ball to the post. In most cases the defender had to dive to deflect that pass. It was always a bounce pass.
You can slow the second ball pass to the post a little bit to make sure the defender sees some success from his efforts, especially when introducing this drill…. after that, you can speed it up and force that defender to really hustle and dive for the ball….
